How would you describe your work?

My work is an exploration of fleeting moments in nature: sparkling sunlight on water, falling leaves, changing seasons and swirling petals in the wind.

What inspires you?

Nature! Travel! Reading! Everything?!

Can you speak about your process?

My process, like the work, is fluid.  I take time to collect impressions in nature and then go on a painting "binge" afterwards.  There's a rhythm and flow to making a series of work.  I love the magic of it.  It's like alchemy, very mysterious and almost completely out of my control.

How did you become interested in art?

I've never not been interested in art.  I've painted my whole life.  I come from a long line of creative women - bakers, ceramicists, crafters, and women who can make "something out of nothing".  I take pride in the fact that I'm creative and I've always wanted to pursue this dream.  As far back as I can remember, I have drawn (sometimes on the walls of my childhood bedroom), painted, made sculptures from little treasures found in nature and I have also always loved looking at art.

Do you have any favorite artists, movies, books, or quotes?

Oh gosh so many!

I love "Midnight in Paris" because it combines my favorite genres of humor, travel and art history.

I love the podcast "Great Women Artists" with Katy Hessel because I love ...women artists!

My favorite artists: Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, Joan Mitchell, Carmen Herrera and Joaquin Sorolla.

My favorite art gallery - Museo Sorolla - an artist's home turned art gallery in Madrid, Spain - a place that I've lived and studied and that's so special to me for so many reasons.  His work is just Incredible to me.

A great film about Carmen Herrera called "the hundred year show" - about her first show at the Whitney at age 100.

I love the quote by Georgia O'Keeffe which states...

"I've been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from a single thing that I wanted to do."

I am an adventurous person, but I used to feel like it was not that notable.  But now, as I grow older, I know that being adventurous is really being extremely brave.
