How would you describe your work?

My work is rooted in a deep appreciation for light, atmosphere, and the poetry of everyday spaces. Inspired by the urban landscape, interiors, and highways, I seek to capture moments that might otherwise be overlooked—transforming the ordinary into something luminous and evocative.

Drawing from influences like Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Fairfield Porter, and Alex Katz, I explore the balance between representation and abstraction, using color and composition to create depth and mood. Giorgio Morandi and Edward Hopper have also shaped my approach, teaching me the power of simplification and stillness in painting. My brushstrokes are deliberate yet fluid, reflecting both technical discipline and a love for the physicality of paint itself.

As a curator and painter, my goal is to engage the viewer in a dialogue between perception and emotion, inviting them into the quiet yet powerful atmospheres I create. Each piece is an invitation to pause, look closer, and experience the world through my lens—where realism meets personal vision, and where every scene holds a story waiting to be felt.

What inspires you?

I am also interested in drawing influence from the past masters such as Edward Hopper, Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebauld, Euan Uglow, Vermeer, Chuck Close and Edgar Degas.

Can you speak about your process?

Exploring the boundaries of representational painting, Ajvazi implements a kind of fan fiction based on past paintings, using art historical references to create his own compositions. He includes paintings and objects in the scene to allude to a set pictorial narrative. Each painting, contains paintings, posters, objects, and gestures of other artists. Some viewers may recognize the references, while others may not, allowing each viewer to actively participate in the malleable interpretation of one piece.

How did you become interested in art?

I started drawing at a young age, since childhood, and I held diploma in the field of graphic design at great learning academy in 2022.

Do you have any favorite artists, movies, books, or quotes?

My favourite artists are: Richard Diebenkorn, Edward hopper, Wayne Thiebauld, Euan Uglow, Vermeer, Alex Katz, David Hockney, Denis Fremond, and Chuck Close. My favourite movies are: Punch-Drunk Love, The Swimmer, The Long Goodbye etc. my favourite books are: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Stranger by Albert Camus.

Any more thoughts about art, creativity, or anything else you would like to share?

I am interested in the ideas of perception where our mind is a self-contained world interfacing with the external world. I am interested in the moments of our life where this idea reveals itself to the perceiver.
